Sree Sree Maa: A Life Dedicated To Divinity

Our beloved Mother was born in the renowned "Syam Chaudhuri" family of Sylhet (now in Bangladesh). Her paternal lineage had the blessing and spiritual protection of stalwarts like Swami Pranabanandaji Maharaj, Bhagwan Sri Sri Kishori Mohan and Sannyasini Mata while her maternal side carried the blessing and affection of Sadhu Sitaram (Andha Baba), the emancipated mahatma from Hazaribagh, Bihar.

The birth of our Mother was pre-destined and her advent was predicted by several spiritual stalwarts, including Bhagwan Kishori Mohan and Sree Sree Sannyasini Mata. Her grandfather and mother also received definite indications and directives prior to her birth.

Sree Maa spent her childhood years amidst great affluence and prosperity. At the age of fourteen, she was bestowed with "Siddha Vasudeva Mantra" by Srimati Sarala Bala Devi (affectionately referred to as "Baroma", she was the great grandmother of our Maa and a devoted disciple of Sri Sri Kishori Mohan and Sannyasini Mata). Baroma left her mortal coil a few years after this event at the age of 97/98 years.

Mahavatar Babaji Maharaj

A few years after her demise, our Maa, while meditating, had a vision of Mahavatar Babaji Maharaj who manifested before her and told her to wait patiently for the next turn of events. A few months after this incident, our Maa came in divine contact with our beloved Baba through her father. Her father, a pious-minded person who has derived mental fulfillment throughout his life by serving mahatmas, came in touch with Sri Sri Baba a few years earlier and had developed a strong mutual bond with him, both spiritually and as a true friend. Our Maa was formally initiated into Kriya Yoga by Sri Sri Baba on an auspicious day in early 1983.

Sree Sree Maa's Parents
At the age of twenty-one, Sree Maa was married to a youngster who was selected by Sri Sri Baba and the marriage was solemnized as per his guidance and directive. Meanwhile, she continued to pursue the strictures of Kriya Yoga as directed by Sri Sri Baba. After the birth of her only son about one year and a half after her marriage, her mind went through a complete metamorphosis. She lost interest in the petty family affairs and completely devoted herself to spiritual pursuits. She devoted herself to penance and practiced the techniques of Kriya Yoga with austerity. At this time, she used to confine herself in deep meditation for days together. She performed stringent penance for 6/7 years before the eternal light and supreme consciousness dawned upon her. She was then worshipped by Sri Sri Baba as the human manifestation of the divine power ("Adya Shakti") and was installed in the position of a "Sadguru" by Sri Sri Baba and other Himalayan saints including Sri Sri Nanga Baba and Mahavatar Babaji Maharaj. He conferred the right upon her to initiate Kriya Yoga to the spiritual seekers ("mumukshu") once she finds the seeker's mind is prepared enough to receive the divine grace.

Sri Sri Dada

Little Deep, son of
Sree Sree Maa
She felt deep compassion for her husband who stood by her during difficult times and willingly cooperated with her in her spiritual pursuits. She once requested her husband for his remarriage, but he graciously declined and started leading a religious life himself for which he had a penchant since his boyhood days. He was later initiated into Kriya Yoga by our Maa. One can see his dedication and dependence on our Maa for spiritual guidance. He lives his life in "Gopala bhava". He is affectionately referred to as Sri Sri Dada by all near and dear ones.
